The 2002 – 2003 campaign saw Norwich City narrowly miss out on a play off position in the first division as they finished off the campaign in eighth position. They crashed out of the league cup in the first round, suffering a heavy 3-0 thrashing against Cheltenham.
The 2003 – 2004 first division campaign was a terrific one for the canaries as they dominated the first division through out the campaign and finished it off being crowned first division champions at the end of the year. Darren Huckerby was in fine form up front for Norwich as they looked forward to a place in the premiership.
Their premier league adventure proved to be short lived as they finished off the 2004 – 2005 season in 19th position, suffering relegation on the final day of the season. Robert Green, David Bentley and Darren Huckerby all played well and Dean Ashton signed for the club in the middle of the season, however his goals could not lift Norwich out of the relegation zone.
Nigel Worthington could not guide the club out of the championship during the 2005 – 2006 campaigns they narrowly missed out on a play off position, finishing the campaign off in ninth position. They sold Dean Ashton to West Ham United; however they brought in Welsh football international, Robert Earnshaw in to the club, who started scoring immediately on arrival.
