The 1994 – 1995 premiership campaign proved to be a debacle for Norwich City FC as they were dismal in the top flight, finishing off the season in very disappointing 20th position, in turn demoting the club into the second tier of English football. Their only bright spot of the season was reaching the quarter finals of the league cup, suffering a 1-0 defeat against Bolton Wanderers in the cup competition.
Norwich found life in the first division difficult to adjust to as they finished off their first season in the tier in a disappointing 15th place.
Worse was to follow during the 1996 – 1997 campaigns they crashed out of the league cup in the first round, suffering defeat against Oxford United. They also finished off the campaign in 13th position; a disappointing finish bearing in mid their aim was premiership football.
If suffering defeat to Oxford was embarrassing, a 4 – 3 aggregate defeat against Barnet in the league cup of the 1997 – 1998 season was one of the worst results in the clubs recent history. They were also a major disappointment in the league as they finished off the campaign towards the end of the table, in 15th position. Darren Eadie and Iwan Roberts were in fine form for the canaries during this time period.
