The 1990 – 91 season proved to be a mixed bag for the Canaries, they signed Paul Blades at the start of the campaign for £700,000 from Derby County, however they could only manage a 15th position finish in the first division. They enjoyed a fine run in the FA cup as they reached the quarter finals of the competition, meeting eventual finalists, Nottingham Forest in the last eight, suffering defeat against them.
The 1991 – 92 season saw the canaries struggle to an 18th position finish. However they enjoyed good runs in the domestic cup competitions, reaching the semi finals of the FA cup, suffering defeat against Sunderland. They also reached the quarter finals of the league, losing against Tottenham Hotspur in the last eight of the competition.
Norwich City manager, Mike Walker, performed heroics at the club during the 1992 – 1993 season as they were emphatic in the premiership, involved in the title race for most the season, they looked like they could win the first ever premiership season, however stumbled towards the end , finishing it off in a strong third position, their highest ever finish. Many players were in outstanding form for the canaries including Mark Robins and Chris Sutton.
The 1993 - 1994 season saw Norwich finish off in a decent twelfth position, however their highlight of the campaign was defeating Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup.
